On this page, you will find information regarding the PhoenixDuels Migration.
A merge was done to simplify the plugin and allow people to have access to features on each plugin.
With that said, our plugin will not be an all in one plugin for duels because that is impossible, everyone have different needs and want things on their own. So our job will be to provide you with enough customization so you can implement your own implementations alongside other plugins.
The merge has its own changes, some features ended up being added via addons which you will receive for free (the ones that match your product).
For Phoenix Duels users, the /duels menu will not longer exist. If you want 2v2+ fights, they need to be done via the party system. Now we understand that removing this legacy duels menu might be a problem for several servers that already got used to. With that said we have a legacy addon that brings back this functionality but under the hood it works based on the party system. This addon will not be maintained and is marked as legacy, only bugs will be fixed for a short period before the release.
For Phoenix Practice users, not many things really changed, the new Phoenix Duels was built on top of Phoenix Practice code, however a lot of things still ended up changing, one of the things are the menus. There are some menus that now got more simple and direct to the point. In any case if you don't think they match what you're looking for, you're more than welcome to create your own menus using a third-party plugin such as DeluxeMenus.
A MANUAL migration is required because several components changed, internally and config wise. If you don't want to migrate anything, just do a backup of your PhoenixDuels folder and do a clean install.
It is expected that you will have to re-configure several components of the plugin in order to make it fully work like before, mainly menus. However rest assured that your maps and modes should be fully migrated correctly. We didn't changed too much, only a few refactorment which should be migrated with no problem.
Some warnings before we start anything, a few things that changed:
For Phoenix Practice:
- permissions now start with "phoenixduels."
- placeholders now start with "phoenixduels_"
- Default scoreboard title/scoreboard is now at templates.yml
- Elo Rating is now at elo.yml
Before starting with the manual migration, make sure that you have already done a back up of your PhoenixDuels/PhoenixPractice folder.
If you're migrating from Phoenix Practice, you will have to copy manually your content to the folder PhoenixDuels.
Create a file under PhoenixDuels folder called .start-migration
After the plugin loads, all of your content will be moved to PhoenixDuelsOld and your new PhoenixDuels will be almost empty for now. In this moment you will see an addons folder too.
Create a file under PhoenixDuels folder called .complete
After that most things should start getting migrated. But as mentioned a few things will need to be configured manually. (Menus for instance, will need to be fully migrated manually)
You will still have access to the old legacy versions for a while, we understand you might not want to migrate it for now and you might want to stay on these versions. However this versions will not receive any more updates/new features and only a few bug fixes in order to smooth your gameplay.
Both PhoenixDuels (Legacy) and PhoenixPractice will no longer be supported starting January 1st, 2026. You can continue using them, but support and updates will no longer be provided.
